Relationships Between Shots

Movie: After

The scene I am writing about is the scene when the two main characters Tessa and Hardin are in the library. The filmmaker uses a lot of different shooting angles to portray the scene of adventure and the fast pace of the scene. She first starts with an extreme closeup shot. She uses medium and long shots that follow the characters as they run through the library. the camera moves with them and it gives the viewer the sense that we are running with them. I notice a depth of field in the shot when they are running from the security guard. the two are in focus while running and you can see the blur of the security guard in the back with his flashlight. the shots are organized in a continuous manner. it makes it feel like it is a continuous movement instead of being choppy and have jump cuts. the producer also does shots from different angles we can see the environment and realize where they are. when Tessa is in class and the teacher is giving the lecture, the producer uses eye-line matching so we can see what she is looking at and view the content through her eyes.
