Kirsten Johnson Lecture

When I first arrived at the lecture I did not know what to expect. Was it going to be a boring lecture that would not interest me? The first thing I noticed was her interesting sense of fashion. She was dressed in very bright colors and you could tell immediately that she would be energetic. I loved the interaction she had with the audience and how she spoke to them. She was creating a connection with the audience which made the lecture even more interesting. I liked hearing about her experience in Afghanistan and how the tactics she used to capture some of the shots like the carrot one. I also liked how proud she was of her work and that she told us how long it took her to get all of the shots for Cameraperson. She made the lecture really interesting and I paid attention through the entire thing. Relationships Between Shots

Once you open your ears to the sounds, keynotes, you notice that each sound is different and they each have their own unique characteristics. The first thing I hear is the wheels of the train scraping against the tracks as it approaches the stop, then you hear the unique ding of the train doors before the system tells you to stand clear of the closing doors. On the platform, it is very loud, Kids in circles talking and yelling of excitement. You hear the swipe of the MetroCard as it goes through the turnstiles. And the stomping of feet against the stairs as people run to catch a bus they know they will miss. Once out of the train station you are on the street, honking horns, the sound of people selling their products, and the sound of music blasting from a store or from someone carrying their own personal speaker, usually rap ...
